Hedgehog has two secured, private cages at the world-class Equinix Data Centers in Ashburn, Virginia, which allows us to provide one of the best hosting infrastructures in the industry. Hedgehog selected Equinix after conducting a thorough evaluation of data centers and we are proud of our close relationship with them. Equinix has received rave reviews by industry analysts, and Hedgehog has been very impressed by their high level of customer service.
Working with Equinix allows Hedgehog to take advantage of the enormous economies of scale that come from using space in a large state-of-the art center. Through Equinix, Hedgehog is able to offer fully redundant power and air conditioning, combined with advanced network and physical security.
Hedgehog provides dedicated managed services on top of this facility, thereby allowing our clients to get the best of both worlds-a state of the art infrastructure, and small-company dedicated management and support.
The following is a detailed description of the Infrastructure that all Hedgehog clients enjoy. This infrastructure is designed to help eliminate any single-point of failure that could cause a site to go down or stay down. Reducing single-points of failure is crucial to our clients, who rely on their Internet presences for their day-to-day — and minute-to-minute — operations.

REDUNDANCY OF POWER & AIR CONDITIONING
|
N+1 redundancy on all power systems ensure that failure in one area will not bring down the facility
Dual power circuits in each cage provide redundancy against failure of power within the lines running to the racks
Battery power and UPS supply interruption-free fail-over power for at least 7 minutes with the facility at full capacity
Power generators are online within 8 seconds and fully operational within 30 seconds. Diesel in the generators will allow the facility to operate for 48 hours and Equinix has contracts with multiple local diesel providers to power the facility indefinitely
Air temperature and humidity is kept at a constant level throughout the facility to prevent damage to the machines. Server areas are kept at 70(+/-2) degrees F and 30-60% relative humidity.

NETWORK SECURITY AND REDUNDANCY

Hedgehog utilizes Internap to provide multi-homed bandwidth from multiple suppliers. We use burstable bandwidth to ensure an ample supply for our customers even if they have major spikes to their site in the event of unexpected press coverage or events
All of Hedgehog's sites sit behind a shared or dedicated firewall to protect against unauthorized access. Hedgehog offers full firewall support and management services including design, configuration, testing, monitoring and reporting
Hedgehog monitors industry mailing lists and publications to keep informed of potential security threats and the latest patches to prevent them
Hedgehog believes strongly in the importance of security, and provides SSH access to our sites (rather than unencrypted telnet access) as well as digital certificates and SSL for secure transactions. In addition, Hedgehog works closely with all our clients to ensure that sensitive information is stored and transmitted via secure encryption methods
Equinix has the latest in physical security, including perimeter alarms, closed-circuit TV monitors, individual PIN codes, biometric hand scans, onsite security teams and man traps. Multi-level access control protects against unauthorized access to key areas of the facility
Seismic bracing, bullet proof exterior walls and concrete barriers along the facility's perimeter protect against earthquakes and other disasters
Multi-zoned dry pipe water-based fire suppression systems protect against damage to equipment in the event of an emergency
Tightly sealed conduits and moisture barriers along all exterior walls. Dedicated pump rooms and drainage systems and moisture detection sensors protect against flooding
Access to each cage is controlled by biometric hand scan and pin number
Hedgehog provides 24/7/365 network and server monitoring and live support
Hedgehog monitors processor, memory, and hard drive space so our customers can anticipate the need for upgrades well in advance
Hedgehog can provide both automatic and human monitoring of key applications and capabilities both continuously and during key times like the Holiday fundraising season
